strange film
To bad the wrong guy died here. Perhaps they're trying to tell us all about some BS morals and marriage, who knows? It ends ina church of all places and in the movies, at least back then there is no attempt to revive someone and Martin (my name by the way) just dies for no apparent reason. brain hemorrhage maybe? Evelyn wasn't a hell of a lot of help and just walked away as if, "OH well, the only man alive who doesn't think he owns me was just killed by the other greedy creep." instead of fighting back herself or at least telling whatsisface to go F himself..

Original Release Cut
Although the color is a bit washed-out here, this is the original "director's cut" that went to movie theaters and drive-ins in the summer of 1960. No doubt about it, the film's star Betsy Jones-Moreland made it an even hotter summer!
The black and white version of this film on the Archive came from a TV print, lengthened by about 10 minutes with the same actors performing newly written and filmed scenes a few years later for a more syndication-appropriate running time.
One of Roger Corman's best films, despite the many flaws. Not bad for a $40,000 budget, eh? Take that, James Cameron!

Pretty good
Interesting story, though they do jump to quite a conclusion considering they're in one small town on one island in the Caribbean--there's more to Puerto Rico than these three people explored.
Amazingly un-cheesy for a Roger Corman movie.
Don't want to think too hard on the cock fight at the start of the movie. I'd bet there was nobody looking out for those birds.

Subtle Symbolism...
The story of the last two men and the last woman left on earth...and the first scene is a "cock fight!"
